The Grove Hotel is a listed building and started life as a coffee house in the 1770's before reaching prominence as a coaching house when the Manchester road was diverted. Then six coaches passed through Buxton every day. The Regulator, from Manchester to London called at The Grove every morning and the Sheffield mail, en route for Manchester stopped here on both the outward and inward journey. During this time passengers were advised to enquire at the respective inns for departure times as they were subject to alterations. No change there then!

The Hotel has changed recently and whilst keeping its old world charm, has been extensively refurbished. We now have 14 pleasant bedrooms all with private bathrooms, cosy bars, a comfortable coffee lounge (pictured right) and TV lounge with a character that lends itself to a relaxed atmosphere.

This historic 18th century Hotel is situated in a commanding position in the centre of Buxton and is ideally placed for its many events and attractions, including the Pavilion Gardens, Opera House, The Crescent, Spring Gardens Shopping Centre and not forgetting its location for visitors to the Peak District.

You will enjoy Buxton, the ideal centre for the surrounding hills and dales of the Peak District. Situated conveniently for Chatsworth and other stately homes, the beautiful valleys of Goyt and Manifold and the quaint villages of Dovedale and Bakewell.
